The reason right wing ideology is under attack and dying within recent years is a combination of “the written word” and the internet. To break down my point a bit… The right wing of media and politics is unarguably patriarchal. In the past if it disagreed with something (that was likely a risk to its existence) they could talk over top of it, or refuse to have it printed/displayed in the media. I heard someone say "People are too sensitive. I can say what I like, it's called freedom of speech. They shouldn't be allowed to call me a bigot". They don't see that they are actually the ones trying to hinder their ideal of "Freedom Of Speech". That's what "Freedom of Speech" is though... an ideal. I would like to redefine the word “privilege” for when it’s used to define humans. The level of privilege one has as a human can be defined by what they’ve been given and the level of action taken when their rights in particular are violated. This is why anyone with greater privilege will obviously fight to keep it, to them they are fighting for their rights. Our generation needs to make it's own holiday. Holidays are generally created by accomplishments of mankind, birthday of a great leader, ending an oppression and superstition (occasionally a groundhog comes along and see's his shadow or people putting carved pumpkins on their doorstep). I'm in a bit of a daze lately. I finally have my GRS (sex change) behind me and am stuck on my back for the massive recovery period which has me in bed for 80% or more of my day. The recovery period kind of serves double duty as my entire state of mind seems to be changing. It is starting to hit me that I no longer have to tolerate the abuse from my roommates which I only tolerated so that I wouldn't have a conflict which could hurt my living situation which in turn could have derailed/delayed my surgery. Today marks the one month count down to my GRS (and breast enlargement). One month from now I will leave my home for 10+ days to achieve what I've always wanted. It's certainly come at a considerable cost. The surgery is potentially fatal, approximately 1 in 50 don't survive it. Now I know the odds are in my favor but it's still a brush with death that I wish I could avoid. Most of the problem with a lot of mental illness's which carry clinical depression stages is the public's misunderstanding of what clinical depression really is. I am type two biplolar (which is often just a varied form of type 1 and hard to tell the difference between) and it carries clinical depressions. With the death of the great Robin Williams, a lot of attention has been given to the nature of depression. I feel this is drastically heading in the wrong direction. Yes depression exists, it some cases very seriously.
